Lion King on the River
The ferry takes you from one side of the river and delivers you to the door of the theatre. There is no parking around the theatre so everyone rides the ferry.

They Love Nashville in Germany

This was just outside of some neighbors house and we all enjoyed some champagne to celebrate the new year and one of the neighbors has a country band and they sang some songs for us and we all sang along.

We went from one place to another and everyone had a bottle of champagne to keep filling the glasses. Everyone was happy, joyous and excited about the new year as the smell of fireworks still filled the air. Sorry about the look on my face but I was blinking and wasn't intoxicated.
We went to see the operetta "Grafin Mariza" in Bayreuth

It was performed in German so I didn't understand what they were saying but I had an idea of the storyline and it was a really great experience. We were all dressed in our finest and looking soo good. I think I might have a picture of us for you later. What a great time to enjoy the high society and the culture in Bayreuth, Germany.

They Tested the Warning Sirens Today

Today we were sitting at the table enjoying some good food when the warning sirens started to go off around this area. We are just outside of Hamburg, Germany and I was told that they do this every Saturday at 12noon to test the sirens.
Even though it was just a test, I couldn't help but imagine the idea of bombers flying overhead and having to run to the cellar for shelter. I could imagine the fear and chaos as the sounds of the planes interrupted our pleasant conversations and the sounds and feel of bombs crashing throughout the neighborhood.
Yes, I sat and imagined that and yes it was only a test but it made me think how fortunate I am to be here in a great place like this with good friends and good food and not have to worry about that sort of thing.
Have a great day ya'll

How I began a new year in Germany

Fireworks were set off all throughout the city of Bayreuth, Germany and up on the hill overlooking the city.

I've been around some cool firework shows but this was something like I had never experienced before.

To be in the very middle of all that celebrating and festivity was unbelievable.
This photos can only give a small idea of what it was like.

Hot chocolate on a stick

Lars Klove for The New York Times
They look like the kind of chocolate lollipops SpongeBob SquarePants would have in his cupboard. But they are actually Petrossian’s hot-chocolate-on-a-stick, a clever way to make the warming winter drink. Scald a cup of milk for each serving, pour into mugs, then give each person a pop, which melts as it is stirred in.
