Best Breakfast Buffet in Nashville; 2 Rivers Grille, Nashville Airport Marriott

Now the secret is out! We have eaten there over the years many, many times and always enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the service. The 2 Rivers Grille is not serving your typical "hotel" food. Take the family or some friends out there for breakfast and sit back, relax and enjoy.
~Corey

Visit the Nashville Airport Marriott for info about rooms and their breakfast their website.

For most eaters, the words "breakfast buffet" conjure up soupy eggs, withered bacon and grease-swimming potatoes languishing in steam-table hell—perfect fare for a dinner-theater production of Glengarry Glen Ross in Snakebite, Ala. At this plush hotel restaurant high on a hill off Elm Hill Pike, however, you'll find omelet and Belgian waffle stations, smoked salmon with capers, and fat sausage links along with the requisite biscuits, bacon and grits. The cost: a reasonable $14.95. Think of this semi-swanky smorgasbord (a Mother's Day must in my household) as an upgrade—Shoney's without the whiff of bus-depot purgatory. —JIM RIDLEY

Titans stand tall and yes...PERFECT

The Tennessee Titans keep winning, and not even Peyton Manning could stop the NFL's only undefeated team.

LenDale White ran for two touchdowns, Chris Hope intercepted Manning twice and the Titans routed the Indianapolis Colts 31-21 Monday night.

The Titans (7-0) have won an NFL-best 10 straight regular-season games, matching the second-best streak in franchise history. More importantly, Tennessee grabbed control of the AFC South away from the team that has dominated this division in winning the past five titles.

Kerry Collins outplayed Manning, throwing for 193 yards with no interceptions.

Nashville International Airport delays the start of construction

Due to the challenging economic times, bond market instability and increased materials and labor costs, the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) is delaying the start of construction on the consolidated rental agency complex (CONRAC). This project includes the design and construction of a consolidated rental car facility in the long-term parking lot, north of the existing short-term garage.

This is just a delay, not the cancelation of the project. The MNAA does not yet have an expected date to re-activate the project, but looks forward to doing so in a stronger financial environment.
Visit Fly Nashville to learn more about this project.

2008 Ruth Fertel Keeper of the Flame Award: Cheri and Earl Cruze from the Cruze Dairy Farm

Since Cheri and Earl Cruze began producing churned buttermilk in the early 1990s, their small family farm in Knox County, Tennessee, has become a revered name among culinary connoisseurs and country folk alike. Earl claims he is simply carrying on “a family tradition.”

Both his grandfather and great-grandfather sold buttermilk from horse-drawn milk wagons. The Cruzes are one of the only family farms in the state of Tennessee to process and bottle their own milk. In addition to buttermilk, the Cheri and Earl sell whole milk.

Visit the Southern Foodways Alliance website to read an interview with Cheri and Earl Cruze.

He played banjo while they performed brain surgery on him

Eddie Adcock had brain surgery the other day at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was awake for the entire process and played his banjo during the process. I guess you could say he was "pickin and grinnin" while the doctors "cuttin and grinnin." You really must read the story and watch the video. They are both available courtesy of the Tennessean newspaper. You can read an excerpt below from the paper.

Here is an excerpt from the story in the Tennessean...

Adcock, a well-known, well-traveled banjo player, recently underwent deep brain stimulation surgery, a cutting-edge procedure used to cure tremors. The surgery not only did that for Adcock, but also restored his dream of continuing to play music professionally.

The uncommon part was what the doctors asked him to do: play music while they worked on his brain.

A videotape of the Aug. 25 procedure shows Adcock lying on an operating table, picking an original song on his banjo while, on the other side of a plastic curtain, surgeons and nurses do their work.

Tennessee needs to start using wind and clean energy

“I’m a big fan of Tennessee,” he said. “We picked Tennessee because it felt right. … To be successful you have to rely on your heart as well as your head.”

Jacoby’s remarks came Tuesday during a keynote address to a lunch crowd at the Governor’s Summit on Clean Energy Technology, an event that wraps up today at the Knoxville Convention Center. The summit, hosted by Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen, former U.S. Sen. Howard Baker and the University of Tennessee Baker Center for Public Policy, focused on ways that green technology can help spur economic growth in the state.

Wind power has started to become a popular way for homeowners to generate their own energy, but some new rules in Nashville could limit how green homeowners can get.

One resident in the city is already using a wind tower on his property to pump power into his home.

As more people decide to go green by using wind power, Metro councilman Charlie Tygard said he doesn’t want some people’s efforts to save money to alter other people’s quality of living.
