Templeton Thompson Writes Song for Barbaro Documentary

The singer-songwriter and Nashville recording artist, Templeton
Thompson, and her musician husband, Sam Gay, have written a song for
the new documentary, Sculpting The Wind; Alexa King & The Making of
the Barbaro Memorial Statue, which chronicles artist Alexa King's
creation of this now famous statue that resides at Churchill Downs.
The song, I Love to Run, captures the essence of the famous Derby
winner who famously fought to overcome catastrophic injuries only to
ultimately lose his battle with laminitis.

Audio of Flavor Flav meeting fans before Bonnaroo
Everyone knew him and wanted pictures, autographs, etc... I was truly surprised at how some of the "older" folks knew who he was and wanted to meet him. This happened yesterday.

Great music to stimulate the mind. Calm and tranquil on the surface and yet you feel the power that moves underneath. That is the beauty and power of Richard Wagner's music.

My Nashville...
My Nashville... is hard to put into words what makes it so special. To name a few things would have to include the slower pace, southern hospitality, good food and the country music. Together it all creates a wonderful place

Story of a Piano Stuck in the Tunnel of a Hotel

Photo from Andy Carvin
It's tucked away downstairs, far from the eyes and ears of the hotel guests. I like changing from my work clothes to my street clothes in the locker room around the corner and hearing the sound of a fellow worker playing that old abandoned piano. Sometimes I finish dressing and exit in time to see who is bringing life back to forgotten beauty and sometimes the player has left before I open the door.
It's nice to recognize people's talents and passions. More importantly, it's nice to assume that there is more to a person than the job that they do. He might sweep the floors or bus your table, deliver your room service or, like me, drive you in from the airport or carry your bags to your room. All honorable jobs, but never the whole picture. I hope I always remember this as I go through life: being served at restaurants, paying parking garage attendants, waiting in line at various retail counters. These people are always more than their name tags might otherwise indicate.
Last night, the piano played a familiar piece of music as I tied the laces to my shoes. Who it was, I don't know. Maybe a waitress, always hurrying with your drinks, but hearing Debussy's calming music in her heart. Or maybe the head housekeeper, keeping your lobby clean while on the clock but also keeping the memory of how to play "Claire de Lune" fresh and clean in his head when off the clock. Whoever it was last night, what was played made for a wonderful coda to the end of a long, hard night of work. Thank you. Your talent is beautiful.
This comes from ChezBez. Visit to read some good stories and he takes some really cool pictures too.

Grand Opening of the Arrington Winery and Vineyard

This past Saturday night we went out to Arrington Winery and Vineyards for the grand opening. They were offering all sorts of tastings and Pat McLaughlin did a concert with Kix Brooks jumping on stage to jam with him towards the end of the concert. It's a beautiful place with a friendly staff and some really good wines. It is located in a nice, rural area outside of Nashville which makes the drive out there beautiful.
It was a really great experience.

Some of the wines we tasted:
Syrah 2004- This was my favorite, it was outstanding and just was a delightful experience for my tastebuds.
Merlot 2005- A really nice delicious wine.
Red Fox Red (non-vintage)- A fun wine that tasted so good.
Sweet Liberty (sweet wine Muscat)- Really nice wine with a nice taste of honeysuckle in it.
Gewurztraminer (semi-sweet)- A white wine with a delicious taste and finish.
Desert Rose (dry rosé non-vintage)- A nice wine.
Raspberry (sweet)- Another good wine.
