Metro Nashville is sponsoring the first annual Hot Chicken Festival in East Park on July 4.
The contest will be followed by the city's annual Independence Day celebration and fireworks at Riverfront Park.
The Hot Chicken Festival Amateur Recipe Contest will be held 12-2 p.m. on Woodland Street in East Nashville, according to the Metro Nashville Web site. The first 400 people to attend will be able to sample some of the entries.
