An On-Line Show from Webbspun Ideas

I'm in the process of creating an online show that will be all about the things I love. I want it to also be a celebration of my wonderful city of Nashville but I also want it to be much more then that. It will have some live music, we'll talk about travel, architecture, food and all things culinary. They folks that come down to Past Perfect when we are shooting will find some drink specials as well as food for those "in the audience."

We'll talk about what people think about when they hear someone mention "Nashville" and what is right in what they think of us here or what is just a myth. It will be a learning process for me but I look forward to the adventure and the challenge. Shooting will be starting at the end of October in various parts of Nashville with the actual "set" shots being filmed in mid-November.

I hope you stay with me and learn, laugh and enjoy as much as I will.

Eat out with purpose.

We all like it when someone else cooks our food for us and washes the dishes as well. Such is the advantage of going out to eat. As good as it is, what if we treated restaurants like, well, treats?

By saving our dining out experiences for special occasions and other memorable gatherings, we'll save gas and emissions by not traveling, food that we order but don't eat, and some money, (maybe the best part!) We're not saying you should only eat beans in a can at home, but a week of dining in could really make a difference

BIBO Wines, Gauthier Family and So Many Others in the Tennessee Reining Horse Family

We worked, showed and enjoyed a very busy weekend in Murfreesboro. A Tennessee Reining Horse Association show is always fun and becomes more so for me with each show. I know more people, I know the patterns that they have to run better and I learn more with each show.

The scores could have been a little better for us, I could have used a little more rest and would have enjoyed more food but the sights, sounds and yes...even the smells are incredible. I'd say this weekend was a great success, overall.



We spent the weekend getting to know Sylvan Gauthier and the others from the Francois Gauthier Reining folks. We shared some BIBO red and white wines with new and old friends and we had such a great time. Wine truly brings friends together and it helped us this weekend as we all enjoyed the show but also worked hard.

I can't wait til the next one even though I couldn't keep my eyes open last night but now that I am refreshed and rested again...let's go.

Yes, it was fun to ridicule the girl down the hall in college who wore black, burned incense and swore by the healing power of crystals. But how would you feel if it turned out she was right about magic and the strange forces of the universe? That's how we felt when the Wine Enhancer--a heavy, funky-looking resin coaster containing about a dozen different metals, crystals and stones--arrived in the mail. Its creator, Robert Catania, a hotel and restaurant owner in Sandwich, Mass., claims that the device helps soften the tannins and lift the aromas of red wine by simply having the bottle placed on it for 10 minutes. "It's energetically bringing in a combination of Orgone energy, zero-point energy and then the frequencies of the crystals and the gemstones. And the enhancers tweak that energy as it comes in," Catania claims. Yes, it sounds crazy--as if putting a cup of coffee on your mouse pad rather than directly on your desk will make it taste different. But

The most fanciful of the lot, a product that conjures images of leaping unicorns and faculty parties at the Hogwarts School, is the Catania Wine Enhancer.

Here's what the PR pitch promised: "[It] creates a harmonically balanced resonate frequency that balances a wine's tannins and boosts the flavor and aroma. Additionally, the Wine Enhancer has been known to reduce or eliminate headaches among wine drinkers, based on many users' testimonials."

What?

"That has highest hooey factor of all of them," says David M. Hercules, the Centennial Professor of Chemistry Emeritus at Vanderbilt University. "Copper or silver wands could conceivably selectively remove tannins, or react with organic sulfur compounds. And magnetic fields can have an effect on molecules, but you need electromagnetic fields like the kind used in an MRI."

Tennessee Titans Carried on the Legs of the Kicker Rob Bironas

“Have you ever seen anything like that?’’ Kerry Collins asked after the Titans beat the Texans 38-36 on Sunday. “I’d have to say that is probably the craziest game I have ever been involved in.’’

The veteran quarterback ran off the Reliant Stadium turf to chants of “Kerry, Kerry, Kerry’’ from a small pocket of Titans fans. Most Texans fans had left before the nutty ending, but those who remained watched their team rally from a 32-7 fourth quarter deficit, take the lead with 57 seconds to play, then lose the game in the final ticks.

Collins, who started and went the distance in place of the injured Young, engineered a drive that put Rob Bironas in position to provide the game-winning points with a 29-yard field goal — his NFL-record eighth field goal of the day.

Porter Wagoner Has Lung Cancer

Country Music Hall of Famer Porter Wagoner has been diagnosed with lung cancer, says a statement issued by the publicity firm that represents the Grand Ole Opry.



On Friday, Wagoner’s former duet partner Dolly Parton sent a letter to Grand Ole Opry Vice President and General Manager Pete Fisher. The letter said she had visited Wagoner that day and that he was “in good spirits… weak and not feeling great, but feeling much better he said. He wanted to thank everybody for their thoughts and prayers. He’s looking forward to getting better and getting back to the Grand Ole Opry. I promised him I’d sing with him his first night back!”
