Keith Urban and Big & Rich in downtown Nashville

I walked out of Legends on 5th and Broadway the night that the CMA Awards Show was ending at the Sommet Center (2007 i think) and I ran into Big & Rich and Keith Urban standing there talking. I stood there about 3 ft away just taking it all in. A crowd started gathering so John Rich and Keith Urban hailed a cab and sped off leaving Big Kenny and his wife just standing there.

Nashville's best specialty food shop - Corrieri's

Corrieri's is a great place to stop in for a variety of cheeses from across the USA and Europe. The staff is very knowledgable and happy to share all they know with you and they'll also let you sample the cheeses so you know what you like and dislike. Have you ever tried a variety of blue cheeses to see how they compare? Well, you can at Corrieri's and they often have cheeses that are delicious AND have fun names, like the Drunken Cow or the Drunken Goat

The Concierge Recommends...the book

When you check into a hotel and you are imagining all the places to go, things to see and restaurants to eat at and you ask for recommendations just believing that they will tell you the best place for what you have a taste for at the moment. Someone points you towards a leather covered book to see menus and read descriptions of each restaurant. and you think "oh look these are the places that they think we should go for dinner."

Nashville honky-tonks and the Nashville Experience

Everyone thinks of our honky-tonks when they think of Nashville and that's for a good reason. There is a good bit of history that ties Nashville's music legends to the honky-tonks. Back when Tootsie's Orchid Lounge was called Mom's and "Tootsie" bought it in 1960. So many legends worked there singing or drinking as they struggled to make it in the music business.

Tootsie's is the most famous of all the honky-tonks but there are some other ones on the same strip that carry as much weight. Robert's Western World, Legend's Corner, The Stage, Bluegrass Inn, Rippy's and more. Each one has it's own style and flair so be sure to visit each one and see which one is right for you. Sometimes the music is mediocre but days and nights it is some really great music. These are some of the best places to hear up and coming as well as some established artists.

The Flavor of Nashville

As our city grows, changes and becomes even more diverse when it comes to our culinary options we find more people who are delving into the deliciousness all over the city. Many of us still love the traditional Southern types of food like fried chicken, pork chops, greens, mashed potatoes, corbread, biscuits and things that you would find at a meat and three restaurant or at your grandmas house but also love the new options.

Over the last few years we have seen restaurants like Margot's, Zola, Mambu, Rumba and others open and become very popular as they bring exciting new flavors to Nashville. They bring spiciness, fusion, boldness and a sense of adventure to the culinary landscape but they also have become very comfortable places to visit and enjoy. I love having the culinary options of Italian, Mediterrean, French, Caribbean and more in the same neighborhoods as traditional Southern foods.
