West Tennessee Quarter Horse Association Show in Memphis

At the truckstop
This past Thursday we drove to Memphis to be a part of West Tennessee Quarter Horse Association show. We were showing a horse and also taking one of the embroidery machines to be able to show how we can make hats, jackets, shirts and more. It was a combination of fun and business and we were so glad we went.
Warming up in the arena
Designing a hat at the show
We spent three nights at the Memphis Airport Courtyard and the hotel was alright but the odd thing was, the housekeeper, or someone, smoked in our bathroom and we found some blood on our sheets the next day. Weird and we made sure everyone knew but the houseman took care of it all.

Marlowe's Pink Limo
We had dinner at Marlowe's the first night and it was good. Nothing spectacular but it was good. The server was fantastic.
What we ate: BBQ combination with chicken, pulled pork and pork ribs with baked beans, potato salad and bread.

Beale Street- A very cool place to spend a Friday night with all the music, people and food. It was quite a treat for all the senses. I wish Nashville would block off 2nd Avenue again just like Memphis does for Beale Street.
Happy Trails Ministry: a "cowboy church" that provides service for people when they are away from home but still want to be in church on Sunday mornings. They were showing at the horse show as well and were really nice people.

Blues City Cafe- Really cool place with a lot of soul and charm. The food was soooo delicious. The shrimp and the ribs were seasoned just right and tender and just plain ol' DYNOMITE! Our server was really nice and told us about the food and never left us in need. Easy to find on Beale Street. My thanks to the Memphis police officer who recommended that as the place to try.

What we ate: Tamales and a bowl of chili, Cajun-styled BBQ Skillet Shrimp and Beale Street's Best Ribs.

Cafe 61- nice restaurant that looked really cool on the outside and inside. Some of the food was really good, some was okay and some of it was really bad.

What we ate: Grilled Steak Caesar Salad, Pan Fried Mozzarella Salad, Derk's Favorite Shrimp, Kingfield chicken tenders
