Let every one know that the Saturdays wine tastings will be moved from Corrieri's Formaggeria (The Cheese Shop) to the covered patio at MAFIAoZA'S's. It will still be from 2-5 PM and is no charge.

This weekend wines are from a fantastic winery in Chile, Casa Lapostelle. We are enjoying the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc, and we might even pop open a special bottling of the Cuvee Alexander.
I come to you this week with one of the greatest offerings of Aussie wine this Sommelier has seen in quite a while. I personally am taking a mixed case of all four wines (And do not forget that you get 10% off if you get any 12 bottles of wine so feel free to mix and match)."
As it has been in previous vintages, the value-priced 2004 The Ball Buster Proprietary Red is a classic Barossa Valley effort in terms of bigness, boldness, and a dramatic display of fruit and intensity. If you want something delicate, restrained, and understated, steer clear of this locomotive that crashes over the palate with a flamboyant display of blackberry and cassis fruit, licorice, tar, and spicy oak. Explosively rich with formidable intensity, this blend of 74% Shiraz, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 12% Merlot is an amazing wine for the price. Readers should be forewarned that it possesses 15.5% alcohol, but carries it well."

"This outstanding trio of McLaren Vale reds performed beautifully. One of South Australia’s finest efforts is Oliverhill’s 2005 Shiraz Jimmy Section. Aged in 100% French oak (33% new) for 17 months, it is an unbelievably dense wine boasting an exquisite perfume of spring flowers, blackberry and blueberry jam, smoky pain grille, and graphite. Huge intensity, full body, and stunning concentration, richness, and length suggest this spectacular wine will age effortlessly for 10-15+ years.

Perhaps the finest value in this portfolio is the 2005 Shiraz Barking Mad. This amazingly delicious Aussie red exhibits a dense ruby/purple color followed by a gorgeous perfume of blackberries, licorice, plums, and pepper. It is a full-bodied, opulent, pure, delicious Shiraz for drinking over the next 3-4 years.

"The deep ruby/purple-tinged, medium to full-bodied 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Allyson Parsons exhibits pure black currant and blackberry fruit along with notions of damp earth, herbs and spice. With excellent ripeness, decent acidity, and silky tannin, it should drink well for 10-12 years."
