Montgomery Gentry will headline Sound & Speed in Nashville

Montgomery Gentry will headline the kickoff concert of the Sprint Sound & Speed Presented by SunTrust at 8:00 p.m. on Jan. 9 at the Sommet Center.

The festival begins the next day at Municipal Auditorium, where racing and country music fans can interact with drivers, team owners and entertainers through autograph and story-telling sessions. NASCAR stars confirmed to attend are Dale Earnhardt Jr., Michael Waltrip, Reed Sorensen and David Stremme. Others confirmed for the sessions are Josh Turner, Jason Michael Carroll, members of Diamond Rio and Rick Huckaby.

Concert tickets are $17.50-$35 and will go on sale Dec. 12 through Ticketmaster and http://www.soundandspeed.org/. Festival tickets, which are $20 for adults and $15 for children, are on sale now. A combo ticket for both events will range from $40 to $50.

The fourth annual event benefits the Victory Junction camp and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Kevin Costner and Modern West will be on the Opry this weekend!

Josh Turner will tour with Carrie Underwood and George Strait

Carrie Underwood will be headlining more than 30 concerts beginning in February during a tour with opening act Josh Turner. The shows are in addition to her co-headlining tour with Keith Urban that begins Jan. 31.

In making the announcement, Underwood said, "I'm so excited to be hitting the road and doing the full show of my music that I have always dreamt of doing. I have been so fortunate to learn from so many other great artists while touring with them, and they have inspired me in so many ways. They have helped me to get to this stage of my first real headline shows, and now I finally feel ready. I can't wait to travel throughout the U.S. and Canada and see all my fans."

Tickets to six of Underwood's Carnival Ride tour dates go on sale Saturday (January 12), including shows in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (Feb. 18), Albany, N.Y. (Feb. 19), Amherst, Mass. (Feb. 20), Pittsburgh (Feb. 22), Providence, R.I. (Feb. 24) and Bridgeport, Conn. (Feb. 25).

Josh Turner Will Be the Newest Addition to the Opry

Hank Williams. Patsy Cline. Alan Jackson. Martina McBride. And now, Josh Turner. They're all members of the Grand Ole Opry, the nation's longest continuously running radio show. Turner was invited to join Saturday, and had no trouble accepting.

During "Opry Live," Turner presented Roy Clark with a plaque commemorating his 20 years as an Opry member. Clark then pulled an envelope attached to the back of the plaque and said, "Well, actually this is for you, Josh. It reads: How would you like to formally become a member of the Grand Ole Opry?"

Said Turner: "I made my Opry debut back in 2001. I never knew this could happen so early."
He will be formally inducted Oct. 27 by Vince Gill.

When Turner made his first showing at the Opry, he hadn't yet had a song released on country radio. Even so, he earned a standing ovation for "Long Black Train," which became his breakthrough hit, and a second standing ovation after an encore.
