My "Good Life" by Joe
The good life is being able to retire at 40 and then coach your sons team to the little league world series and win it. Afterwards taking two months to drive around the country, visiting different state parks, national parks, amusement parks, going to sporting events and seeing the different stadiums.
It's showing my sons the country they live in and letting them see it with their own eyes instead of just reading about it. Creating lasting memories for the entire family.
~Joe from New York
~~~Joe and his family have now done all this stuff. Congratulations Joe and let that be an inspiration to us all.~~~
Gaylord Hotels go to Arizona
Gaylord Texan Hotel
The announcement Sept. 3 that Gaylord Hotels would build its next major venue near Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. The buzz went national, in fact, as hotel-industry publications and Web sites pulsed with news of Gaylord's planned expansion.
In the month-plus since Gaylord first announced its Mesa venture, the company and DMB Associates, from whom Gaylord is buying the resort site, have been ironing out a development agreement with the city.
An early draft showed Mesa allowing Gaylord to retain bed taxes to be collected at its resort, as long as the money is used to promote its Valley venue and Arizona tourism.
Under an economic-development provision in state law, Mesa also will take ownership of the land and lease it back to Gaylord, giving the company a break on property taxes.
No drawings nor site plans for the Mesa site have been drafted. Mesa is annexing and rezoning the site.
A Flying Club
Recently we had some people who were all friends stay at our hotel and the guys are all pilots and a couple of times a year they all take a vacation together. They fly to all their destinations themselves and they will go to 3-5 different locations and spend 2-4 days in each location. They usually make it a country trip normally staying in various cities and hotels while enjoying the local cuisine, music, culture and whatever else they can get into.
On this most recent trip they visited a small resort type town on the Texas-Mexican border. Than to Sedona, than to Sante Fe, than Nashville and I forgot where they were going to next.
They all have amazing times and were all smiles the whole time they were at our hotel. I think that is the type of thing that we all long to do but they decided years ago to make it happen and one by one they all took flying lessons. They were truly an inspiration for me.
