A Nashville Metro Councilman wants to rename Interstate 40 in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Okay, now listen....Martin Luther King Jr. was a great man. I can't even begin to fathom doing what he did and went through during his life. All to make a better life for everyone in our nation. That is why he has streets named after him in every city. That is why we have a holiday to honor him.
My thoughts on renaming I-40? Don't do it and here is why...I-40 is much like Route 66 and the great passage ways around the country. The are a huge part of what makes us so great and fun to explore. Don't change that, keep it just the way it is and honor Dr. King with the holiday and streets in each city.
Leave I-40 to us...the explorers, the wanderers and adventurers. We want to enjoy it with no political name on it or anything else. We want it just the way it is, a number without having to see it as more than a magical place to drive.
Save the highways the way the are because they are as much a part of our history as anyone or anything.

Hit the road and see a Van Halen concert this summer?
A Van Halen reunion tour, with David Lee Roth back in the fold after 22 years, is in the works, with a Las Vegas launch looking good.
A late April date at the Palms' new venue, The Pearl, is "99 percent" likely, a source said. It would be the latest coup for Palms owner George Maloof, who will open the 2,500-seat venue with a lineup that includes Tool, Evanescence, Gwen Stefani and possibly Van Halen, all in the first month.
A 40-date tour is being discussed.
Roth fronted the band from 1974 to 1985 before going solo. He was close to rejoining about 11 years ago, but a blowup caused another rift.
Van Halen's last tour, in 2004, grossed about $40 million, with Sammy Hagar as the lead.
Tool would open the Palms venue March 16-17, Evanescence would follow on March 17, and Stefani is set for the April 21 grand opening.

The clear, golden, attractive color is what strikes you first. A firm white head is the crown of this golden ale. Your first experience, while sipping the BLOND, will be a refreshing, sparkling effect on your tongue, followed by a mild bitterness enhanced by a spiciness, that finishes with a sweeter sensation. A good nose recognizes the hops, in combination with fruity esters.
With its 6.5 % alcohol by volume it is somewhat stronger in alcohol content than regular beers, but it’s not overpowering, and it allows one to easily drink more than one glass--especially with dinner, where we recommend it certainly with fish dishes. Although it is a typical beer to sharpen the appetite, while drinking it with your friends, family or business partners before actually having dinner. And of course we will not refrain you from drinking a few more after dinner while having more fun with your company.

Sloeber is the Flemish name for an epicure, somebody who likes the good things in life in a somewhat naughty way. The Sloeber pale golden ale has a malty nose, rather hoppy and dry on the palate with hints of orange. Full of character, it is one of the best examples of the Belgian strong blond ales at 7.5 % alcohol by volume…a great companion for copious meals and other naughty activities! The blond ales were the first defense of the Belgian brewers against the emergence of the Pilsner beer in the early 20th century: more flavor, more aroma and higher in alcohol.
Biere du Boucanier Golden $4.99
This golden ale is treasured in the best restaurants and the most exclusive bars.It probably has one of the meanest labels, but its taste is a sublime combination of bitterness (hops) and sweetness (the rich malt), all complimented by a specific spiciness infused by a combination of three exclusive yeasts. An all natural process. To reach such high alcohol levels, the brewer must start with three times the normal amount of the best barley malt, and give the yeast many weeks to do its fermentation work. More, the beer is also refermented in the bottle (and the keg!).
