Tennessee Pork Shoulder with macaroni and cheese, baked beans and cornbread. I tried all three sauces and they were all unique but delicious.
Pesca and Past Perfect
One is a nice place to shop for nice furniture, antiques and home furnishings. Past Perfect is a nice, cozy place to stop in for some good food and drinks. The sit across from the Schermerhorn Symphony Center and Segway of Nashville on 3rd Avenue South and just a few doors down from Broadway. Be sure to stop in and see them.

10-pound dog hitches ride to Birmingham

FRANKLIN - The traffic was slow on Interstate 65 the day Buffy, a 10-pound dog, walked down the middle of the road.
A van carrying the Botes family traveling from Wisconsin to Alabama saw vehicles ahead of them narrowly missing the dog near CoolSprings Galleria.
“I yelled at my husband, Brad, to get the dog,” Kaye Botes wrote in an e-mail. “Brad opened the door and he describes picking up the dog to scooping up a golf ball from the golf cart. Suddenly, this tiny little thing was in our van.”
What the Botes didn’t know was Buffy had spent the past few days outside, separated from her family in a house off Lewisburg Pike. The day after Christmas, she left through an open door and found herself lost in a big world.
With no collar, the Botes had no way of tracing her family, and they took her home with them to Birmingham.Meanwhile, the Hood family of Franklin frantically searched for their lost dog. They eventually put a notice on Petfinder.com, one of the Internet sites Katrina families used to locate their pets.
In Alabama, the Botes heard of Petfinder.com while buying a collar for their new dog. That evening, they found the Hoods’ post and Buffy and her original family were reunited.

Role Model? Me?
I had a guest that checked in with his family tonight and he reminded me that they stayed at my hotel approx. 2 years ago and I sent them out for dinner and to see my city. I vaguely remember it all but he told me how I talked about the hotel business and what a great business it is and how much I enjoyed it.
Well, I gave them my card and told them if they ever came back to Nashville to let me know and I would be happy to help them get out and about again. Well, he kept the card on his desk and when he felt like it was time to move on to a new job, he remembered what I said and he now works at a resort hotel for the same company that I work for. He told me that he loves it and was glad he took my advice and made the change. I was incredibly flattered and blown away by my effect on someone like that.
I guess it just goes to show you that how we treat people on a daily basis whether in our jobs or in our every day lives can truly make a difference.

A Young Guest
A young girl recently stayed at my hotel and left a note at the front desk as the were checking out. It wasn't a long note or anything to dramatic but it sure did make my day.
It simply said:
"This is a great hotel to stay at even though I only slept five hours. I love it."

Wilderness Adventures in Alaska
When people think of Alaska and taking a trip there it often brings up thoughts of hiking through vast areas of true wilderness and breathtaking scenery. Some people want to experience Alaska by taking a cruise and visiting the towns and cities that way while also being out on the water to see the glaciers, whales, etc. If you have a strong sense of adventure and you are in good shape, that is important, than a great way to see the grandness of Alaska is to take a "wilderness adventure." This will allow you to have a guide but also to go out on the water in a sea kayak, go hiking, float a river, fly over the wilderness, animal watch and more.
Now let me say that I have yet to do this and yes, I need to get into better shape before I try it but.....I want to do it and someday I will. I can't think of a better way to get out and see what it is all about than to take a trip with someone like Alaska Discovery. I want to be out there sweating and getting back in touch with my wild side. Now when I get back to "civilization" I would have no problem checking into a nice resort or hotel and being pampered again. Why not be able to enjoy the best of both worlds?
Have a look a their tours and I bet you will find something that would make you dream of an Alaskan adventure and who knows, maybe someday we can share stories of our travels in Alaska.

Hot Dog Police?

Vinea- Wine Tasting

This Saturday from 2-5pm to taste wines from France. It will be a fun, imformative experience and there are no crowds to speak of yet at their wine tastings. It is a fun time for all and you can visit Corrieri's cheese shop or have dinner at Mafiaoza's afterwards.
First, they will be tasting two of their most popular wines from Michael Goubard, Cote Chalonaise Pinot Noir 2003 and the 2002 Croix du Mayne from Cahors. Next, there is a Merlot from Southern France , La Galiniere and they will finish things with a $9.99 bottle of the week, Cuvee du Pena
